Added in the wetting or drying stage of the wet tableting process (intragranular and extragranular), so that the capillary and swelling effects of the disintegrant can be best exerted. The effect of external addition is better than that of internal addition.
When used as a disintegrant, the dosage can reach 5.0% (W/W), but the dosage in the direct tableting process is usually 2.0% (W/W), and the dosage in the wet granulation process is 3.0% (W/W). It is generally considered non-toxic and non-irritating but may cause slight irritation to the eyes. It has a laxative effect when taken orally in large quantities, but the dosage in solid preparations is not likely to cause this problem. Cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone is used for active instant drink granules. Regardless of wet granulation or direct tableting process, the presence of hygroscopic excipients (such as sorbitol) can cause the disintegration efficiency of this product to be slightly reduced. Cross-linked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose can be used in nutritional health products.
